Next Paseo: Manuel Antonio - Nov. 20-22

It's time to head for the beach! While our friends & family celebrate Thanksgiving wearing their hats & gloves, let's thank our Heavenly Father while we apply sunscreen!

ILE Spanish Resources

A Community of Spanish Language Students

How to use this Site PDF Print E-mail

This site was created so that students at ILE could share resources, tips, websites, and advice they picked up while doing language studies in Costa Rica. Not only can you view what other people have used in the past - you can upload your own resources and help others learn too. Also, check out the blogs of students that went before you, or add your homepage to the list so we can keep track of where you're at and what you're doing!

So how do I use this place? Where do I go to find stuff?

The first thing you need to do is LOG IN using the name and password you've been provided with. Without logging in, you can't submit anything or download any resources. Log in at the bottom of the RIGHT column. Once you've logged in, let's take a look at what all you can do...

PART 1 - RESOURCES

  • What are RESOURCES?
    • Click on one of the sections under the "Resources" heading on the left navigation column to view study guides or vocabulary lists. Here you can see what other students have found helpful - lists of verbs, conjugation study guides, etc... The ones most downloaded rise to the top of the list, but you can sort it by most recent or name if you want.
  • How do I add my own resources?
    • To submit your own study guides, click the "Submit File" icon at the top of the page (or sometimes it's in the RIGHT column under "User Menu").
    • Once you've gone through all the steps, fill in all the information you can about your document, so others will know what to use it for.

PART 2 - ARTICLES

  •  What are ARTICLES?
    • Click on one of the sections under the "Articles" heading on the left navigation column. Here students have posted tips or advice about living in Costa Rica or learning Spanish. Here you might find information on how to get around, good restaurants to eat at, cool places to go, or words of caution. You can also read stories about other students' experiences during language school. The News section has information about student life, such as upcoming paseos or important school activities.
    • You can rate articles that you find most helpful. That will put them in order so others can benefit from them as well.
  • How do I post my own article?
    • To submit a story or tip of your own, click "Submit an Article" on the bottom-right part of the page under "User Menu".
    • Now you can write your article much like you would in Microsoft Word. When you're done, make sure to choose the appropriate Section so the article shows up in the right place. Otherwise it might disappear. Also, put your name in "Author Alias" and fill out any other information you can.
    • Click Save at the top when you're done.

PART 3 - LINKS

  • What will I find in the LINKS section?
    • Click on one of the sections under the "Links" heading on the left navigation column. Here you can look at websites other students have found helpful - such as Spanish radio sites, Spanish podcasts, or translation tools.
    • You can also look at other students' blogs to see where they're at and what they're doing. You may even want to get in contact with them if they're in the country you'll be serving in.
  • How do I post my own blog or website?
    • Click on "Submit a Web Link" on the bottom-right part of the page under "User Menu".
    • Fill in the information about the website you're linking to, and make sure to include the URL. Also, make sure to file it in the appropriate Category so it shows up in the right place!
    • Click Save when you're done.

Well, that's about it! You can print or download a PDF of this page by clicking in the upper-right corner. Feel free to explore other parts of the site, such as the poll section where you can vote for your favorite beach destination, or select the hardest verb to conjugate.
